Volunteer Impact Heightened in Annual Clean Up of American River September 25, 2010
Volunteers will rally to help fill the gaps created by budget cuts this Saturday, September 25, when the Great American River Clean Up (GARCU) takes place along the American River Parkway.
The annual event is traditionally cause to marvel at the amount and types of debris pulled from points along the river. The tenor of this year’s event, however, is more dire. Well-publicized County budget deficits have resulted in service lapses along the Parkway, and GARCU’s role - and that of the volunteers - has become more magnified in keeping one of the region’s greatest natural attributes maintained. All participants will receive a coupon for a free car wash from Harv’s Car Wash.
